Our van, Hopper is a 2019 Ford Transit, low roof, short wheelbase (130 Inch), T250. We purchased him used; he was a U-Haul van in his previous life, and he had around 17,000 miles on the odometer when we picked him up. I found him in Portland Oregon and flew up to check him out and make a deal. Immediately after buying Hopper I drove him to NW Quadvan (just 7 miles from the dealership) where he was converted to 4X4 as well as a bunch of other modifications. Later we took him to Field Van in California where he got the pop-top conversion. We had a robust solar and electrical system installed to run a fridge/freezer as well as 12v and 110v power outlets, lighting, 200Ahr of batteries and a 360-watt solar panel on top to charge everything. The interior was built out over the next several months with cabinets to store everything we would need for living in the van. We use all electric appliances for cooking and have zero propane. We have 20 gallons of water with a very powerful filtration system.

After several short trips to work out the bugs and refine our living systems we spent three months driving Hopper as far north as possible in Canada, Tuktoyaktuk, on the Arctic Ocean in the Northwest Territories.

Now we are turning South to drive as far South as possible in South America, Ushuaia, Argentina.
